RFD FAA Annual Training at LEX

LEX ARFF Truck

Chicago Rockford International Airport Firefighters had the opportunity to fly to Blue Grass Airport (LEX) in Lexington, Ky for our annual FAA training. RFD firefighter normally have their training at Chicago’s O’hare airport. Due to a technical issue on their simulator the firefighters were unable to have their training at ORD. Fortunately, LEX has a regional ARFF training facility and they were able to accommodate on short notice. RFD ARFF, was able to fly from ORD to LEX directly and fly back that evening.

RFD ARFF would like to thank the Blue Grass Airport’s Regional ARFF Training Center for sharing their experiences and southern hospitality. Once the training was complete the chief of the training facility gave us a tour of beautiful Lexington Kentucky and took us to Ramsey’s Diner, one of Lexington’s well know restaurants.
