During the first week of December, the Tulsa International Airport Fire Department provided support for an official visit by the First Lady of the United States, Dr. Jill Biden, and U.S. Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland. The official party landed in Tulsa and traveled to Tahlequah to visit the Cherokee Immersion School in the Cherokee Nation.
The Cherokee Immersion School is a language preservation and revitalization program for the Cherokee Language. The mission of the school is to develop leaders who will successfully meet the challenges of their futures academically, socially, and culturally.
