Effective March 1, Stennis International Airport’s Fire Department will be staffed and operated by Pro-Tec Fire Services. Pro-Tec, the largest private provider of Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) services in North America, has similar contracts with Trent Lott International Airport in Jackson County and Mobile’s airport, among many others. The Fire Department at Stennis Airport has been staffed by firefighters who are independently contracted to provide ARFF services.
“Our efforts couldn’t be possible without our mutual aid partners – Kiln Volunteer Fire Department, Diamondhead Fire Department and the Bay St. Louis Fire Department – which will continue forward under the new contract,” says Chanse Watson, Airport Director.
Stennis Airport tenants and transient pilots can expect superior service from Pro-Tec’s additional staffing and services, he states, noting, “Our published ARFF services will be provided 24/7/365 with increase in services provided as needed.”
These services will ensure the Airport remains competitive in the aviation market not only locally but in the region as well.
“Pro-Tec will respond to emergencies but also will become a familiar face to our customers,” Watson says. “The team will be assisting our office with conducting routine inspections of the airfield to ensure FAA compliance among other beneficial services to our airport community. It’s about safety, security and customer service.”
Watson says Pro-Tec aims to become part of the community.
“As the gateway to Hancock County and South Mississippi, we want to make sure that Stennis International Airport provides both a professional level of service and a positive experience for our customers,” he says.
